Program Objectives:

  1. Complete an environmentally friendly trek along the Everest Base Camp route helping to maintain and preserve the beauty of the trail from Lukla to Everest Base Camp.
  2. Raise awareness of local ecology, nature conservations practices, water preservation, etc.
  3. Learn about the unique flora and fauna indigenous to the Everest region and how they have adapted to the extreme climates.
  4. Discover the impact of trekking and tourism on the life of the local Sherpa population while observing the traditional eco-friendly lifestyles of these mountain people.

May 10 : Arrival in Kathmandu

Flying through Nepal on your way to Kathmandu offers tremendous views of snow-capped mountain and peaks. It’s an interesting welcoming through knowing you will have conquered these mountains upon your departure. Upon your arrival, the Good karma Trekking staff will be waiting to greet you discuss your travels and escort you to the hotel. We will offer some welcome drinks and let you explore through town during the evening. There will be the briefing of the programe with the Welcome Dinner

May 11 : Sightseeing in Kathmandu Valley

Kathmandu is the historical and cultural heart of Nepal and has been a popular destination for tourists ever since Nepal opened its mysterious doors to visitors. The city presents a wonderful mix of Hindu, Tibetan, Buddhist and Western influence in the Valley. The neighboring cities of Patan and Bhaktapur provide immense historical, cultural and religious significance. There will be a half day guided tour to the infamous Hindu shrine of Pashupatinath, the largest Buddhist stupa in Nepal Boudhanath, the 15th century palace of 55 windows and Swoyambhunath “the monkey temple”. Prior to your departure you will receive more information about the trip and offered an English-speaking guide to give you unique insights into the culture and architecture of each destination.

May 12 : Flight to Lukla - Trek to Phakding [2656m]

The flight to Lukla lands on a steep mountain runway and brings us to the start of our trek at the village of Lukla [2850m]. After meeting the crew, we head up the Dudh Koshi Valley on a well-marked trail and then stay overnight in the town of Phakding. we start our Everest Cleaning Trek from Lukla collecting the rubbish all the way from Lukla to Phakding .

May 13 : Phakding

From Phakding, we cross and re-cross the river over an assortment of high suspension bridges. Beyond Monjo is the entrance to the Sagarmatha National Park which was established to protect and preserve the fragile mountain environment. We then take a steep hike to Namche. If the weather is clear, we get the first glimpse of Mt Everest. Namche is the main trading village in the Khumbu region and boasts a lively Saturday market serving as a meeting place for the Hindu traders from the lowlands and the Tibetan yak caravans that have crossed the glaciated Nangpa La.

May 14 : Rest day in Namche

Namche is tucked away between two ridges amidst the giant peaks of the Khumbu region and has an abundance of lodges, teashops and souvenir shops. It is an ideal place to spend a day while acclimating to the new altitude to prevent any health problems before heading off towards Tengboche. To acclimatize, you can visit either Khunde Hospital established by Sir Edmund Hillary or take a one hour walk up to the Everest View Hotel above Namche for the sunset view of Ama Dablam, Nuptse, Lhotse and Everest. There are other excellent vantage points from the National Park Centre and Museum just above the town.

May 15 : Trek to Tengboche [3867m]

From Namche, the trail contours to the side of the valley, high above the Dudh Kosi. We get our first really good views of the great peaks of the Khumbu including Mt Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse and Ama Dablam. After passing several villages and numerous teashops, we descend steeply to a bridge over the river at Phunki Tenga. The village is an ideal stopover for lunch where we can rest before making the steep climb to Tengboche. Although the hike up the zigzag path is tiring, it presents us with many beautiful sights of rhododendron bushes with beautiful birds and superb mountain scenery. Tengboche is famous for its legendary monastery, the largest in the Khumbu region. A spectacular panorama of Everest, Lhotse and Ama Dablam waits upon arrival at the campsite.

May 16 Trek to Pheriche [4252m]

We will descend downhill through a forest while crossing the Imja Khola and climb steadily to the village of Pangboche. This village is directly opposite Ama Dablam [6,856 m], and has exceptional views of the mountain, with the gompa, mani walls and scattered pine trees in the foreground. After another two hours of walking we will arrive at Pheriche.

May 17 At Pheriche

A day for rest and acclimatization spent wandering up the valley to look at the Tshola Tsho Lake and the perpendicular walls of Cholatse and Tawache. We will scale the ridge overlooking Dingboche for the view of the Imja Valley and the incredible south face of Mt.Lhotse.

May 18 Trek to Lobuche [4930m]

We continue up the wide valley beneath the impressive peaks of Cholatse and Tawache. We then turn right and begin a steep climb towards the foot of the Khumbu Glacier. The teahouse at Duglha will provide a good spot to rest and have lunch. The trail continues to zigzag up through the boulders of the glacier's terminal moraine. At the top of this climb there are many stone Cairns, built as memorials to the many Sherpas who lost their lives climbing Mt Everest. The path then climbs gently along the glacier, to eventually reach the cluster of houses at Lobuche.

May 19 Trek to Gorak Shep [5184m]

reach our next stop, Kala Pattar, we continue on the Khumbu Glacier. The trail offers superb views of the surrounding mountains, especially where the path is forced to rise to cross a tributary glacier. We stop for lunch at at Gorak Shep and enjoy the views. Later in the afternoon, we make our way to the top of one of the finest viewpoints in the Everest region, Kala Pattar [5554m]. As the light begins to fade we stroll back to our camp at Gorak Shep and have an early night in preparation for our trek to Everest Base Camp the following day.

Same day Gorakshep to Kala Patter hiking

walk : 2 hours to climb and plus one hour 30 min to return back to Gorakshep excluding the time spend in Kalapatter .

Kalapatter Elevation: 18,208 ft. ( 5554 meter)
Gorakshep Altitude . 17007 feet ( 5184 meter)
Total Climbing : 1201 ft. ( 366 meter)

after Lunch you will climb to Kala Patter the same day for the lovely view of Tempting Everest The late afternoon or evening are the best time for Picture because the light is better at sunset, you'll get the last rays of light on Everest, and if you're lucky, you'll get some alpine glow and that glorious Everest purple at sunset. In the morning, you don't have that light because the sun is rising behind Everest and when it finally clears the range, it's high in the sky. We suggest all the tourist to go to Kalapathar in the afternoon for the same purpose, since the light would be beautifully lit the mountains during sunset, especially that beautiful Ama Dablam!!

May 20 Trek to Everest Base Camp [5357m]

A very early start is required to reach the Everest Base Camp. It takes several hours as the trail weaves its way through ice pinnacles and past the crevasses of the Khumbu Glacier. On the return leg, we can take a higher route to get a spectacular view of the Khumbu icefall and the route to the South Col. We return to either Gorak Shep or Lobuche.

Distance 4.5 KM total walk going and coming back. From and to Gorakshep

May 21 : Trek to Pangboche [3985m]

Today’s trek is mostly downhill as we retrace our steps to Duglha and descend to Pheriche, we will arrive at The Himalayan Rescue Association that serves as a trekker’s aid post makes for an interesting visit. After lunch we cross the Khumbu Khola on a wooden suspension bridge and follow the Imja Khola to the village of Pangboche.

May 22 : Trek to Namche [3450m]

We continue to follow the river and, after crossing it, climb back up through birch and rhododendron forest to Tengboche. The town offers views of Himalayan giants Kwangde, Tawache, Everest, Nuptse, Lhotse, Ama Dablam, Kantega and Thamserku, views whose memories will last a lifetime. We will continue our descent to the bridge over the Dudh Kosi. At Phunki Tenga, we get to see the water driven prayer wheels, before making our way back to Namche

May 23 Trek to Lukla [2800m]

Our final day's trekking follows the Dudh Kosi down to Lukla. As our trekking is completed, we arrange a party with our sherpa guides and porters. We sample some local beer and invite you to try out some traditional Sherpa dances. This makes for a memorable night and serves as an unforgettable way to end your trip

May 24 Flight to Kathmandu

After saying bye to Lukla and entire Everest region you will be again in kathmandu after half hour flight and the day you can spend on washing, massage, cleaning, more sightseeing’s etc

May 25 Depart Kathmandu

Good Karma Trekking staffs will transfer you to Airport for your international flight. if you have other plan of volunteering , more tours trekking you can stay longer in Nepal on your own

During the trek, garbage and contaminants will be collected from the trail to be disposed of in an eco-friendly manner. From the high elevations beyond Namche Bazaar, local yaks and donkeys will be used to transport the material down to an area where it can be properly disposed.

The cost of our unique package trek is just $999 where as $ 50 will be a registration charge to confirm the Participation and all proceeds will go to our local staff, environmental awareness and community improvement projects. You can pay USD 50 to secure your seat and pay the remaining on arrival also for your convenience .

Few Tips

  • Please note you will need to bring 4 passport photos and cash to pay for visa upon arrival at the airport. The photos are for the visa and also permit for the trek.
  • Make sure to bring copies of your passports (at least 2).
  • You can leave nontrekking items in the hotel in Kathmandu so bring an extra backpack/duffel to store your stuff in.
  • We would advise just keeping your passport with you on the trek as opposed to leaving it in the bag that you will leave behind in the hotel in Kathmandu.
  • Gaiters and spikes are optional - I'm told it is unlikely to be needed. However, as a tip, you can buy them in Kathmandu easily and even in Namche Bazaar
  • Showers are available at lower altitude teahouses -some require payment about $5
  • Wifi is available at some teahouses. They require payment (about $5 or so per day).
  • If you have not done so, please secure your emergency evacuation and medical insurance for "high altitude" trekking. Make sure to ask if they cover up to 5500 meters of trekking - In any event, horses can be secured to get you evacuated.
  • Please make sure to bring diamox as a precaution for altitude sickness. Kathmandu pharmacies sell them as well.
  • As noted at the meeting, you will receive a duffel bag for you to use on the trail - this is the one that the porter will carry. You will also get a sleeping bag and down jacket. However,
  • Tips guideline - 10 percent of the amount you spend during the Trek
  • Make sure to bring local money for trail to pay for drinks, water ,souvenirs, and tips. for 12 Days Everest cleaning Trek you might need minimum 100 USD to more
  • The max weight for domestic flight check in can be between 12-15 kg.
