Additional Info

The time for Ten-peak climbing is in autumn and spring seasons; September to December is the autumn season, and March to May is the spring season. These months are undoubtedly the best time of the year for climbing ten peaks or any other peaks in the Nepal Himalayas. In addition, the autumn season comes after the monsoon, so the clouds will have entirely disappeared by then.

The bright blue skies provide an excellent view of the mountains. Many tourists come to Nepal for travel, trekking, and mountaineering in autumn as it is the peak season. Hence, it might be a little more crowded than usual since it is called a very high peak season in Nepal.

Likewise, the spring months of March to May come right after the winter cold season in Nepal, and the flowers bloom and the hills turn red with rhododendron trees. Trekking or climbing at this time of the year is amazing ,with the magnificent views and moderate weather.

The Ten Peak is a non-technical climbing one, but it is more challenging than normal trekking in the Himalayas. The technical grade of level 2 is defined as” mountain climbing with occasional use of hands, chains or ropes.” Fitness level C is defined as “moderate: reasonably fit hikers who hike at least once a month elevation gain of 800-1500 m and distance of 15 km in a day.”

Furthermore, a basic level of fitness has to be maintained by all the trekkers who are going to be climbed this peak, however, there is no previous climbing experience is required, a normal person with an average fitness level can easily do this climbing with your own self courage and determinations.

This guided journey will be led by one of the most experienced local climbing and trekking leaders, who will accompany you from the beginning to the end to make sure everything is in good shape and to make sure your journey is successful, more comfortable, and memorable.

For your personal safety and success, we recommend physical activities like running, swimming and some smaller climbs to lower peaks which incorporate climbs that involve the use of crampons. Be prepared for extreme exposure and steep drop-offs and be capable of carrying around 30lbs/15 kilos. If possible, get some experience in technical rock and mountaineering climbing to prepare for your trek and climb to Island Peak. Be familiar with using other climbing equipment, such as jumar ascenders, crampons, and ropes.

Trekking at altitude requires a lot of energy. We recommend you bring your own healthy snack foods to snack on along the trek.
Accommodation
In Kathmandu and Pokhara, you will stay at deluxe hotels, and while on the trek your accommodation is in native lodges/guesthouses. At base camp, your accommodation is in tented camps. All accommodation is based on a twin share basis.

During the climb, your guide will have access to current weather conditions.

Tent Peak, also known as Tharpu Chuli, is a popular trekking peak in the Annapurna region of Nepal, particularly well-suited for novice climbers. The mountain’s distinct, tent-like shape led to its nickname. A notable event in its history was its first ascent by Jimmy Roberts in 1956, making it a popular destination for climbers seeking adventure and scenic views of the Himalayas.
Here’s a more detailed look at the history and significance of Tent Peak:
Early Ascents and Exploration:
Tent Peak was first climbed in 1956 by the renowned climber Jimmy Roberts, which cemented its place in climbing history.
Before this first ascent, the mountain was likely only known to local villagers and trekkers.
Popularity and Development:
Due to its relatively easy difficulty compared to other peaks in the Annapurna range, Tent Peak became a favorite among novice and experienced climbers alike.
Over time, climbing routes and infrastructure, including base camps and high camps, developed, making the peak more accessible and manageable for climbers.
The peak also became a popular addition to the Annapurna Base Camp trek, allowing climbers to combine trekking with a climbing experience.
Significance and Impact:
Tent Peak’s popularity has contributed to the overall growth of mountaineering tourism in the Annapurna region.
The peak’s relatively easier climb has allowed many people to experience the thrill of mountaineering without the high technical demands of more challenging peaks.
Tent Peak has also played a role in promoting the region’s natural beauty and fostering cultural exchange between climbers and local communities.
In Summary:
Tent Peak’s history is marked by its first ascent in 1956, its subsequent popularity among climbers, and its integration into the Annapurna Base Camp trekking experience. It has become a well-known destination for those seeking a combination of trekking and climbing adventure, contributing to the region’s tourism and mountaineering culture.
