A drop to your Hotel by private tourist vehicle will be arranged. You can either take a rest or meet us at our office and know the detailed arrangement of the Trek.
After breakfast, you will have trek orientation session with your trek leader or guide at your hotel. This pre-trip meeting is for briefings about the trek and other necessary details. You are requested to bring your passport and three passport-sized photos and a copy of your travel insurance policy.
You can use your free time to rest or explore around for some last-minute shopping. Your guide will help you to purchase necessary equipment that you might missed while packing.
After breakfast, you will drive from your hotel to the domestic terminal of Tribhuwan airport to board flight to Lukla. The flight to Lukla gives outstanding views of the early morning sunrise on the snowcapped mountains. On landing Tenzing-Hillary Airport after 35 minutes at Lukla, you will reach the gateway to the Himalayas.
The trek will begin from the airport after meeting our crew, you will trek 6.2 km vertically descending, Phakding at 2,652m. The trail is moderate and has small down and up sections, which made it feasible to get more accustomed to the high altitude elevation. As this is the first day of the trek, you will take rest in Phakding.
The trip begins in Phakding after breakfast and travels through lovely pine trees, following Dudh Koshi River with views of Mount Thamserku. You will arrive at a checkpoint, Monjo (2835), the entrance to Sagarmatha National Park, after traveling through a few communities such as Toktok and Benkar. The difficulty is, however, realized after crossing the Hillary Suspension Bridge.
You will continue walking via the Dudh Koshi River and Bhote Koshi River confluences before ascending steeply to Namche Bazaar, where you will be greeted by the magnificent Mount Everest (8848m), Mount Lhotse (8,516m) and Mount Nuptse (7,861m). On the other side of the Dudh Koshi River, the trails come down to Jorsale, where tourist replenish their supplies. You can get several lodges or tea houses to accommodate for the night.
Namche Bazaar is one of the liveliest places and a must-needed checkpoint to help the body acclimatize to the altitude. It has derived its reputation as the “Gateway to Everest,” selling foods, clothes, shops, bakeries, and equipment for hire.
Namche Bazaar, the biggest settlement in the Khumbu region, is well-facilitated with ATMs, Internet cafes, restaurants, bakeries et cetera. Although it’s a rest day for acclimatization, you can take part in a short hike to a nearby viewpoint (Thame or Khunde).
You can also take a tour of the place including the Tourist Visitor Center where information about Everest climbers, Sherpa people, and their culture and flora, and fauna of the region are briefed. You can also take a visit to Everest View Hotel to get amazing glimpse of Mount Everest with your favorite coffee.
You will follow the trail that climbs the top of a ridge offering a panorama of Thamserku, Kusum Kangrib, and Kantega. After walking around a branch ridge, the views of Ama Dablam, Lhotse, Everest, Tawetse, and Nuptse suddenly become unveiled.
We then start descending and come to the crossroad with one way leading to Gokyo valley. Walking through the village of Trashinga, we soon reach the Dudh Koshi River. The first half of the climb to Tyangboche is strenuous, however, eases off as the trail approaches the forested area.
With splendid views in the backdrop, the climb along the mountainside leads to a stone gate that marks the entrance to Tyangboche. The sunset falling on Everest and Ama Dablam makes for an outstanding view. Tyangboche gives one of the best panoramic views of the snow giants. You can spend your night camping at the plateau in front of the monastery or stay in a lodge.
The trek from Tengboche to Dingboche is around 6 hours trek. The area is 4360 meters in elevation and offers a surprising view of the Himalayas and other physical features that change with altitude. The trees gradually decrease as you go up in elevation, but the last part of the hike brings you to unveil seemingly lifeless grounds.
The day starts with an 11.5 Km walk up to a place through a mild slope forest of Rhododendrons & conifers. The beautiful trail leading to small settlements brings the hiker to Deboche village, which is 15 meters lower than Tengboche. Following Deboche, the trail crosses the Imja Khola and Chhukhung Valley Bridge. The ascend from here will get you to the village of Pangboche.
The mountain views from Pangboche are rough and desert-like, and the trek maintains a gradual climbing contour in the alpine zone. You will come across yak graze areas and cross countless stone walls along the trail following the Imja River to Dingboche Village. Further ahead, the path goes steeply uphill to Dingboche in a brief glacial valley, which provides great views of Ama Dablam and Lhoste.
After a genuine hike from Tengboche, the forthcoming day is well-earned. Instead of following the trail, you will spend the whole day at Dingboche for acclimatization.
It will take about a 3-hour break-neck hike to get to Nagarjun Hill, over 5000 meters above sea level. This place has remained among the leading areas of interest in tourism in Sherpa Valley. You can get rather steep paths coming through, and there is nothing for it but to climb slowly and steadily. You will see some amazingly close Ama Dablam, Lhotse, Kangtega, Taboche, and Makulu.
After half an hour to an hour at the top, view the sites, take photographs, breathe fresh air, and descend back to Dingboche for lunch. The trip from Nagarjun Hill will lead you back to Dingboche for camping purposes at night. Typically, upon arrival to Dingboche, you have some time to rest, fill your water bottles, and rest your eyes on beautiful views. Extra days at Dingboche are advisable to make the successful journey of Everest Base Camp and other close areas safer.
The new community on the hike is Lobuche, which is as high as the trail leading to the base of Mount Everest. The first part slowly ascends through Khumbu Khola/Chukhung Valley and Island Peak. One will cross a tiny village, Dughla (Thukla), where trekkers stop and have lunch. A part of the trail gives incredible insight into Taboche, Cholatse, Pumori, and the Lobuche Peak.
Following the Thukla, the trail tends to get technical at the Thukla Pass (4,830 meters), where you will take a short break before continuing your journey. On the top of the pass, you will get another attraction, the Everest Memorial. These are the monuments constructed to commemorate the climbers and Sherpas who died on Mount Everest climbing.
After the pass, the trail becomes simple again as you move towards the Lobuche. It stays along the side of the lateral moraine of the Khumbu Glacier and gives an excellent view of the rough topographies and other far-off snowy mountains. Lobuche and its surrounding view have Nuptse looming high along with other towering mountains such as Pumori. When you get to the village of Lobuche, you will move to Gorak Shep and the tallest point, Everest Base Camp.
The trail from Lobuche to Gorakshep involves a steep rocky path adopted because of the elevation gains in that area. Here, you will pass through rocky moraines to accompany the lateral moraine of the Khumbu Glacier. Sometimes, it becomes narrow or rocky with sharp rises on the upward journey.
The next destination is climbing along the steep and very icy trails to Gorakshep and then Everest Base Camp. It passes through the area along the banks of the Khumbu Glacier, and as the distance is relatively small, it takes a lot of energy due to its high altitude.
When you get to EBC, you will be mesmerized by the beauty of Khumbu Icefall and other nearby mountains peaks like Nuptse, Pumori, and Khumbustse. After spending a perfect quality time at Everest Base Camp, you will return to Gorakshep for a sleep at night.
Another 2-3 hours trek, about 3 km, takes you to Kalapatthar from Gorakshep. Kalapatthar trek is physically challenging as it is steep, so you spend a lot of energy on it. From Kalapatthar, you will get amazing view of Mount Everest, Changtse, Nuptse, Khumbu Glacier and Lhotse. It is still chilly first thing in the morning, generally below freezing point at that time of the day. Most tourists make it their purpose to experience the first light of the day over the towering structure of Mount Everest.
After a laborious day trek to Kala Patthar, you will descend to Gorakshep for breakfast then again continue your trek to Lobuche, which will take about 4 – 5 hours. The down trip is a relatively comfortable alternative to the former up trips but can also be difficult due to tiredness- stress, and altitude.
The trail back to Lobuche is along this glacier and offers delicious views of Lhotse, Thamserku, and Cholatses. The trail is well set and covered with small sharp stones, vicious when coming downhill. Lobuche will be your point of halt for the night. From here, you will be making preparations and planning for the next phase of the trip: possible climbs like Lobuche Base Camp.
The trail further continues through a rocky path along the glacier to ascend to the High Camp. It’s a strenuous climb and we take a good rest after lunch and prepare for the next day’s climb.
You will endeavor to summit Lobuche East Peak, navigating the snowy path beyond high camp then back to Lobuche High Camp. It is the extensive route segment in the itinerary. It takes you approximately 8 – 9 hours.
The best part is at the climax. You will see the exciting vista of the highest peak, Mt. Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse, Makalu, Cholatse, Thamserku, and Ama Dablam. It is worth climbing with such views.
After relishing the summit, you will slowly go to Lobuche High Camp. There will be a descent towards High Camp, where a stunning view of the crystal snow caps and giant hills. At this junction, you will serve in an inn for the night.
You will begin your trek to the Sherpa village of Pangboche after the descent from the Lobuche high camp. The walk will continue retracing the path through Lobuche and Pheriche, skirting around famous landmarks, including Khumbu Glacier and Tengboche Monastery.
The descent is easier because you are losing altitude, but it can still be tiresome from the weariness accumulated in the previous days. Your today’s trek will conclude after entering charming settlement of Pangboche, where you will stay for overnight.
Early in the morning, you will depart Pangboche and travel back to Tengboche hamlet along the Imja River, which winds through a birch and spruce forest. You will follow the trail through a rhododendron-flowering woodland to the bridge after making a quick halt in Tengboche.
To get to Sansa village, you will pass the bridge over the Dudh Koshi River and go through the pine forest and Dudh Koshi gorge. The area is abundant in Himalayan fauna, including indigenous birds, mountain goats, and thars. The army camp at Namche Bazaar will be reached by crossing the chorten.
On your final day of the trek, you will follow the Dudh Kosi River all the way to Lukla. It’s just a pleasant stroll beside the Dudhkhosi River following a steep descent from Namche. On your way to Lukla, you will stop for lunch before making the last ascent to the airport. You have the rest of the day to unwind in the pleasant sunshine. You can think back on your emotional hiking adventures through these enormous mountains, which have likely led to unexpected self-discoveries.
Your time on these magnificent mountains is coming to an end. Later, you can celebrate your successful journey and climb with your porters and Sherpa guides, whom you have become close friends with. Bringing this amazing journey to a joyful conclusion is a pleasure.
Your trek will end with an early morning flight from Lukla to Kathmandu. It doesn’t take long to fly in that region. But it provides picturesque scenes from above the majestic Everest region with all the green valleys, bent rivers, and monstrous mountains around.
Once you arrive in Kathmandu, you may have the whole day free of any activities and relax, soaking in the city’s culture, markets, and food. Attaching this time to treks and expeditions, most trekkers prefer to rest, purchase souvenirs, or explore places like the Pashupatinath Temple or the Bodhnath Stupa.
A drop from the hotel to the airport 3 hours before the scheduled time of the flight is arranged in a private tourist vehicle. You can also extend your trip by opting for another program.
